Sapper 157
So yesterday, I casually went to turn off Bandit (84 gl wagon), and it would seem that he thought that was a pretty ridiculous idea, because I had to wrestle the key before it would finally shut off. Its been stiff for a while but its gotten bad lately, which leads me to believe the ignition switch is going out. How do I get the bugger off? Gloyale
Remove the plastic surround Remove small phillips screw on back of lock cylinder that holds the switch body. done.
wagonist
that's for the electrical switch, but if your ignition is worn so your key won't turn properly, then that's a different story.
Jethrro
If it's a tilt colum there are 4 10mm bolts that hold the assembly together. It's a pain in the rump roast to get off. I just did mine in my 85 hatch a few weeks back. I had a local locksmith rebuild the key portion and make a new key cost a few hours labor and less than $50 and works good as new.
