For those on the east coast this looks good, but remember up to 96 Subaru used a larger turbo on the WRX, so there is more lag then from 97 on. It's alright once you get used to driving it, if you want to stay on the power you need to keep your rpms higher before shifting. I also won't consider this a holy grail. I also won't consider this a holy grail. well i cannot afford it, and as far as te holy grail, it may not be the engine of choice, but it appears to have everything you need to swap that particular engine. i think it would be a good deal. Dr. RX Posted May 21, 2004 Share Posted May 21, 2004 I know of two shops in So Cal that do this type of thing, but not many Subarus, mainly Toyotas and Hondas, there is a place in Texas that does it and one in Vancouver Canada that does it. I haven't heard of any place on the each coast that does it yet (that doesn't mean that there aren't any). Yes it is very complete, but the price is an east coast price, it can be about $500 less over here on the west coast. Plus, to get this from the east coast to the west coast would cost at the minimum another $500. The reason why I stated that I didn't conside this a holy grail is that 'holy grail's' are usually something that are extremely rare, like the famious Subaru original 3.90 LSD, or a first gen RX. Dr. RX Posted May 22, 2004 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Something bugged me about the transmission mount pictured on eBay, so I checked some JDM WRXs that I know about and sure enough, that is not an Impreza tranny mount. It is the mount off of a Legacy. So, if you were to install this into an EA82, that is the mount that you want, but if you were to install it into an Impreza, that mount wouldn't work. Is it possible that the legacy is more similar to the Gen 3 Leone, due to the fact that it was developed in the years of the Gen 3 Leone? Dr. RX Posted May 22, 2004 Share Posted May 22, 2004 The I/C is an air to air type, which the Impreza used, Legacys used a water to air I/C, so at least the picture of the I/C is from an Impreza. Since the Legacy and the Impreza used that same type of engine (externally looks the same, internally not) it would be hard to tell unless I got the complete engine number.
