code 35 on a 92 loyale

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

My loyale threw a code 35 which has to do with the Purge Control Valve.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Is it usually the control valve or are there other components that may be at fault?

Is there a way to test the valve?

I would appreciate any help with this issue.

I have posted here before and received excellent advice. Thank you all for your help!

Thank you for your help Dave. I'm going to try it this weekend.

As for calling Subaru for a quote, I'm already on heart medication so I think it would be better to not tempt the fates at this time.

By the way Dave, what year Toyota did you pull the part from? Does it matter?

Thank you again for all your help.

Jesse

It helps to move them off of the intake manifold so they don't roast :Flame: to death ;).  I put mine on a little bracket on the right rear of the engine and extended the vaccum hoses. The hoses were hard so they were replaced as well.

How much room is there in that 35 ohms? I just tested my 98 Legacy vacuum control valve(which, BTW, Subaru moved to the strut tower), and it tests at 43 ohms. Is that too much to replace an old SPFI control?

edit: The initial answer is yes, a 90s EJ vacuum control valve works. It turned the ECS light off in the Brat right away when I hooked it up. I'll report back after a few days of driving around.
