Im looking at an 02 WRX 2.0 engine for a 100.00. Guy says he pulled the engine cause #2 cylinder had real low comp. like 20 psi. He says it didnt smoke or knock and has about 163,000. Perhaps a stuck valve? Its a complete engine minus the intake manifold. Any opinions?

This is what Im thinking....I have a pair of 2.2 heads that are ported, new valves, springs, seals, phenolic spacers and Deltas. Will these heads bolt up to the 2.0 block? Id probably be running small boost sometime in the future. Is this a good idea, or no? What kind of problems might I be looking at? Mainly looking for a short block that I can rebuild and use my 2.2 heads and intake manifold with.

They'll bolt on just fine. If you have phase 1 heads get in touch with Cometic gaskets and have them make a 2.2 head gasket to match the heads, but with the proper bore size for the 2.0 bore.

The normal head gaskets for the 2.0 will block coolant ports on the 2.2 heads.

I have the 97 single port heads. These are phase 1 IIRC. So I would get HG's for this setup from Cometic? Just with the correct bore size.

What kind of compression/power/torque would I get with this setup? Im currently using the ECU from a 97 2.5 to run the 2.2 that is in the car. Would I need to run the ECU for the 2.0 and would that plug in, or will I need a complete harness too?
