1998 Legacy OBW Clutch fork issues

Recommended Posts

I'm swapping parts from my 98 trans to my 97 trans (doing a drivetrain swap), and the clutch fork doesnt seem to want to stay in place.  It seems like the clip slips off the pivot ball.  I had this problem last time as well, the TOB would slide too far off the shaft.  I was told to get an 06+ fork, but that involves a new fork, TOB, and pivot ball, and i dont really want to spend the money for that...

Is one hydraulic and the other cable actuated? The pivot position has to be moved depending on which it is.

I will have to look, i believe it may have been a cable clutch.  It didnt come with the fork so im not positive.  How does one get the pivot ball out to move it?

Yes, just move the pivot to match the lever you need to use. There are two threaded holes in the case. You can tell pretty easy which lever needs to use which pivot mounting hole by looking at the distance from the end of the fork to the pivot hump on the lever.

The pivot just unscrews. Should be 19mm IIRC.

Thank you! Got it done now!
