Loyale Parts Car

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about purchasing a friends Loyale and combining the good from both his and mine to make one great car. Mine is in great shape intirior wise and has fairly low mileage, his has a great extirior, fresh winters, but bum wheel bearings and brakes.

If I purchased the car I would likely try and part some of the stuff out to recoup some losses what kind of stuff are people commonly looking for and is it likely that I'll be able to get a few hundred bucks parting a few things out?

If I get it I'll probably only have a month to play with it before I have to scrap it. What are good parts to save either way? Was going to keep the engine and transmission maybe some bits of trim what else would you guys recomend keeping?

Bumpers are good to have.

Dash cluster especially digital.

Push button 4WD I'm guessing it has, those can be a premium, I know you said your keeping it.

Cargo cover if it's still there

CV axles especially if they are still original, fix any original CVs, so much be then the crap that is put today.

The computer brain, never know when you might need one.

Rims if they are alloy

Pull the rear cvs to never know on those too.

That's all I can think of at this point.

Sweet! Good to know. If anyone is interested in specific parts let me know which ones and what you might pay for them. I'm located in Vancouver and will be driving down to Southern California in June for some kind of delivery.

get the parking light bulb housing, they break over time and heat for no reason,

mudflaps, one of mine dissapeared when i went too fast through a flooded road, good thing i have a parts/donor vehicle also.

check if your tail light has any water leaks, i seem to notice that alot at the junkyard.

take the hatch shocks that raise it up and hold it,

take the handle lock cover, the plastic is very delicate and a scratch will make it crumble overtime for some reason,

couple vents incase you break one,

definetly take the computer brain as Dinky26 stated, this is especially good when troubleshooting something wrong in your vehicle and suspect its the computer. checking on your profile you own a 93 loyale and this parts vehicle your getting is a loyale also, just make sure their both same color computer boxes, they should be gray on loyales i think.

the boots to the steering arm.

balljoints on the end of the steering rod.

take the skidplate if it has one ofcourse

all the bulbs on the vehicle including dash and interior lights.

those old jesus fuses i call them since i can't find them at the autoparts store, their next to the antifreeze reservoir in the small black box.

all the fuses under the steering wheel

resistor pack for your fan speed.

windshield wiper motor

alternator, starter, compressor.

and the transmission dipstick if their the same kind, they break very easily if you insert it 180degrees the other way, unless you have the non flexible dipstick, i have the one that flexes.

and ofcourse anything else you like or need like seatbelts or power mirrors or if your mirrors are rusting on the inside, their seems to be alot of decoration stuff in the engine bay, like a cover between the oil dipstick and thermostat, bunch of clips like one that holds the starter cable up, spark plug wire clips (bunch of those) but i dont know what kind of person you are if you care about all these smalls.

oh and take the distributor also ($200-$220) at oreillys or autozone.

also your 93 loyale doesn't have an oil psi or battery voltage gauge if im correct, but this other loyale your getting might have them, not sure if you care about more gauges.

sucks that you have to scrap it in a month or so, im keeping mine incase i need a door or hood,

let me know if it has quadheadlights (sealed beams) i have the 2 big beam 9004 headlights, chances are very slim since loyales never came with them but easily swapped from a DL, ill buy them from you.

If it had quads I'd keep em!

Thanks for the extensive list. I'm going to do my best to keep it but I'll be storing at work (scrap yard) and if I leave it too long I'm sure my boss will scrap it for me! I'm not at a car yard and there isn't a ton of space and my apt building only lets me have one space, and I'm pushing it since I also park my motorcycle in a different area!

I'm going to just leave the stuff in my spot so I'll likely just keep as much as possbile.
