Carlisle after action review, and nex year's plans. Please Sticky!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, back home from Carlisle and I have to say I have never attended a better Subaru event.

First things first, let's thank the people who stepped up and made it what it was. I cannot remember everyone who did everything so if I ommit you raise your hand and remind us of your part.

-The table crew, we passed the hat to rent a food table at the rather steep price of $18 a piece and dollar after dollar was donated by everyone asked. Interesting side note, we also made allot of friends with our hospitality and enthusiasm. Next year, a fellow we offered a cold beer and burger to who is a past Subaru owner, is providing whatever tables we need FREE. Further, thanks to our hospitality to the restroom attendant he dipped into the secret closet to produce soap and towles for a few members who forgot theirs. Several memebers of other clubs spent their social time in the evenings at our tent rather than their own club.

-Ice men. Skip and the other fellow who flies Citation jets (sorry I forgot the name) were pasing me 10 spots in thanks for the keg, not neccessary but what we did is roll it into the ice fund to keep beer and food ice cold. Add to the list, Mike Domminisi and Beerheart who made a good number of trips to the ice machine out of their own pockets.

-Dinner donors. Although we had tons of buns and snacks and all that good stuff other than Hocrest who whipped up some of the most tender and flavorfull ribs know to man none of the meat folks made it or remembered their meat so again, we took up a collection. With just the few folks standing around we had $5's $10's and singles coming in hand faster than they could be counted. We had great food for everyone. Lets also thank Joe who made the errand to the store.

-Skip's BRAT. Skip made the adults feel like kids and the kids feel like adults by offering up rides on his ultra rare collectors item BRAT go-cart that he could have very understandably not done given the rarity of the item. Lots of ear to ear grins there. For many present that will be a once in a lifetime chance.

-Clean up crew. Hocrest, LeakingOil, Beerheart, my son and I know there were a few others who pitched in and left it like we found it.

-Dennis. All those hats, pens and other Subaru goodies that you took home came from him as well as that big bright SUBARU banner that will be at next years show as well. Dennis made it LOOK like a Subaru event.

-LeakingOil, who made up all the professional name tags so we knew who each other were, I am sure she will do just as well next year.

I know there is more, and I wish I could recall all the others who spent as much time making it enjoyable for others as they spent enjoying it themselves. As for next year, I imagine everyone present this year will return next year as well as some new recruits. I have already gotten the dates and paperwork for next year from carlisle show officials and we will let everyone know when it is time to register.

Give me a few hours to get the pics up, LINKS will be added here.

Why else do you think they call em Saab's, cause thats whot the owners do when the realize whot they jes bought. Why else would they have to use 94.321% of a Subaru in one of their cars in order to sell some?!

N-E-Wayz, back on topic. Sounds like fun, I still have a few months before my unveiling, uh, I mean, the WCSS.

Can't wait for a pics.

I was there with my Outback...but I felt awkward since it was just a plain old Outback with nothing special. I left after awhile, but it was nice meeting people and getting to check out their cars. Maybe by next year i'll have a Brat :D

I had a great time. It was good to meet new people a re-aquaint with those I already met.

The vehicles were awsome. A 360 van, a nice '78 wagon, lifted wagons and Brats, XTs and SVXs as well as the newest models. I've never been anywhere that had this kind of variety. The imagination, skill and ingenuity that went into the modifieds is amazing. There is definitely talent in this group.

It was hard turning the Bratkart over to Skip after it had sat at my house (even though it was here only about a week or so). I was getting kind of used to having it around. It was a real hoot, though, to watch everybody zipping around the grounds in this tiny vehicle- just hilarious! Wish I had brought my camera:(

Thanks to all who got the ball rolling/organized and made it happen. Hopefully, we'll be able to do it again next year!

Once again, the show was a blast....As I have offered, all those interested in doing some 4 wheeling, or just for the fact of getting together again for the weekend, our cabin is off Route 9 on Mission Road prior to crossing the Shennandoah headed towards Charlestown WVA. Plenty of room, sleeps about 10 comfortably on eight acres of riverfront (Jefferson County, right after Loudon County) Toss this invite around and we'll come up with a plan......Chongo Charlie

Who's Baha was that? The tag in the car said the owner was part of a Fiat club.

That was me. I started coming to Carlisle about two years ago because my other car hobby is Fiats. One of the guys in our club said if you drive something other than a Fiat to at least include the Fiat club on the tag so they could be counted for some reason.

I drove my Spider the first year but for the last two years I've been coming in my Baja.

I was amazed at the amount of Subarus there were this year. Last year there were only 4 or 5.

Last year I was parked next to a red XT and it's tag said "Triumph club of America" so I figured he had the same idea.

  • 2 weeks later...

Damn, Looks like I ,once again, missed a good time. I actually had something to do that weekend, don't remember what it was but I definately couldn't make it. Hopefully next year. I gotta get workin on this BRAT. Scott, wanna help me build a big rump roast monster BRAT similar but different than yours? The looks will be different but I would like the same amount of lift because I want to run big fat tires on it. I like the look. From the side a lifted BRAT looks good but I am talking about the look from the front/back. I like the way yours looks, Thats the way it should look, like a truck. We need explicit details.

This is about what my RX looked like for that weekend.

Things are better with the RX. Not quite where I want to be, but closer.

Sorry I didn't get to go.

Regards,

Jay
