1999 legacy obw.

194k, auto.

I have owned this car about a year, and I have not had to change stuff much. The big copper cable were corroded, and I have flushed all the fluids. Two days ago, I drove the car about forty miles on the highway, then turned it off for a few hours parked in the sun. When I came back to it, it took around five seconds to start up, a little long. Then I drove home, got out, then got right back in, it started right up. Then after that trip I parked it on the street in the sun for a whole day. This morning i cranked for 10-15 seconds before it caught. It has been hot here in Denver, but I wouldn't call it unseasonal. What should I look at first. It is parked in the shade while I run to work for a few hours, so we will see if that makes a dif. Thanks everyone!

possibly losing pressure in the fuel rails. leaky injector or problem with the fuel pump or ????

nect time you 'feel' like it would take a long time to start - do this; cycle the key from OFF to ON (NOT Start), then wait 5 seconds, the OFF-ON, wait, then OFF-ON, wait. maybe one or 2 more times for insurance, then Start.

each time you cycle to ON, the fuel pump runs for a coupla seconds (you may be able to hear it - it's under the right side of the rear seat). So, doing the ON-WAIT routine should pressure-up the fuel rails. If it starts, you know what system is causing the problem.

my 95 legacy l wagon does the same exact thing after sitting will crank around 10 seconds before it starts catching but wont just spring to life it requires the key to be held down for the extra few seconds before it fires. runs great once running and wont do it again unless its not driven for more than a day. if i start it every day it fires right up.
