hm1
I have a 2001 Outback llbean edition with a bad engine. Have been having a hard time finding a used or rebuilt H6 engine. Somebody told me that there is a "kit" for swapping out the 6 cyl. engine for a 4 cyl. Is this true??? Has anyone heard of such a kit? If so where would I look for it? Thanks for your input. Fairtax4me
No Swap "kit". You would have to swap the whole wire harness or run standalone engine management of some kind. Tons of work. Check with CCR Inc. They rebuild nothing but Subaru engines. Used is a much less expensive option. Try Car-part.com to searh salvage yards near you. idosubaru
Can't swap to a 4 cylinder, there is no such thing as a kit. If there was, a kit like that would cost more than just buying a used H6 engine. These engines are easily found: ebay www.car-part.com various JDM suppliers will ship them to your door- they're roughly $1,000 out here. hm1
Thanks for your replies. I have only checked for an engine locally (Boise,ID.) so far. I will broaden my search and see what I can find.
