the best trails in colorado are in left hand canyon........... which is north of boulder i believe, some of those trails over that direction are way too much, but if a little suzuki sidekick can make it through, so can we.......

It's official! this is my first subaru purchase with the intention of using it for off road. 84 GL SW 4spd D/R silver w/ only minor rust on the fenders, right where i would cut away if i wanted to lift it up so no biggie. im stoked wanna work on the brakes and change the serpintine belt out and I'm ready. hows the snow pack in left hand? I was thinking maybe taking a drive on virginia canyon road otherwise known as oh my god!! its pretty much a road but impressive none the less. whats up where else can we explore?

I have some friends who go up to Slaughterhouse a lot. I know a guy in a stock Ranger who can make it up just fine. I suppose I could find out where it is if ya'll are interested. I live outside of Golden too...well...Evergreen. If you ever see a white RX coupe driving around, wave ;)

Hey guys, I just moved away from Littleton last year, been there for 13 years, and there are TONS of trails everywhere.

Go to your Barnes & Nobles and ask them for:

Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails volumes 1-2 by Charles A. Wells.

Nearly every trail is in there from dirt roads (like Oh My God Rd.) to hardcore not for Subaru stuff like Redcone and Carnage. Has map directions, and specific details like at what mile point certain obsticles lie, ghost towns, abandoned mines and lots more.

Highly Reccomended.

Another good one is Colorado 4x trails to Ghost towns or any of the ghost town trail books. Every trail opens up 10 new ones

i went from central city to st. mary's glacier once. most of it is pretty easy , but there were a couple of side trails that were too much to handle for my turbo wagon. i ended up popping one tire and ripped of my exhaust. but was fun anyway. marco

If you want some easy stuff that might lead to more, go into the Pike National Forest. For you guys in the Springs, there is access from Woodland Park or Monument. From Denver you would go to Sadelia (sp?) down 85 to 105 or 85 to 67 towards Deckers.

I bought the book mentioned two posts up for my Brother-in-law, good book.

I need to finish putting together my '89 FT4wd 5sp Turbo wagon before I could go "anywhere" at all!!

Late last year I tried to start my own subaru club...CSC. I made flyers and was planning on creating a website. When I had the first meet only two people showed. I havn't done anything with the club since, because of personal reasons with my ex bf actually.

But I would love to try again and maybe have another meet!!

Yalp...I live in Denver and have been wanting to get together a Subaru meet also. I have a list of 4X trails...most of them off of US285 and then south from there down to Colorado Springs area...average time from SW Denver to get to most of them is about 1-2 hours. We all could pick out an easy to medium one and then maybe have a BBQ or whatever....take some pictures. Don't think I have enough ground clearance for the difficult ones. To test the rating system of the list that I got...went over Guanella Pass today because it was rated as easy...and it was very easy...even 2WDs were up there...but there are some semi-difficult side trails that I spotted also while up there. I will post the list and the map of the trails on my friends web site and link to it in a day or two..or more...who knows. But...if it can be organized...let's do it.:smokin:

Hey guys/gals,

We have been talking about this since before the snow stopped falling and are half way through summer. Lets get it together and have an impromptu meet some where just to get to know each other. It sounds like the number of us is growing and the summer is slipping away. Kellie, Brittanie (sorry if I misspelled), I know you both made attempts to get things started previously:( . I'm willing to help:) ! If anyone wants to try to set something up e-mail me at tjdrury@hotmail.com. I'm in the Springs and willing to travel to get together. Thanks and hope to meet you all,

K...well...got the list and map on my friend's website...you might have to wait for the pictures to download though. We might be working on it off and on for a couple of days while making pages and so forth...so if you can't get in...wait a while and try again later. I prefer Saturday mornings and early afternoons for a meet. Now...take a look at the map here panterrax.kicks-rump roast.org/xenon/ and let's pick a spot...or...let's all agree on a mid-point or whatever. Just trying to get the ball rolling. My email is in my profile if you need to get a hold of me for any reason.:smokin: Sorry about the dog...I was experimenting with Avatars...you won't see it again.

Hey tjdrury...I tried to email you...but it responded by saying that your email was full. I wrote this:Hey...how's it goin'? My user name on the USMB message board is "xenongod" and saw that you were trying to organize a Subaru meet also. I put up a link on my post to my new website where I display a list and map of 4x4 trails in Colorado from US285 to the Colorado Springs area. I'm not the best at managing these type of things...in fact...never have done it before. But...let's do it...greet...meet...eat...and take pictures if possible. I don't have much experience in off-roading in this area...mostly drove Jeeps in the southwest corner of Colorado near Ouray, Lake City, and Telluride...truly some "breath holding" trails back in there. Aww...what the heck...here's the link panterrax.kicks-rump roast.org/xenon/ ....I don't know what you had planned...but let me know what you would prefer. It's getting too hot here in Denver to have a meet down here...we should all meet at a trailhead in the nice cool mountains and go from there. Get a list going of who is going...what to bring...and such...you think? Anyhoo...hope to talk to you later.:smokin:

Hey everybody...got a email from tjdrury...we are trying to decide on a meeting place on the July 26th or 27th. He is thiking somewhere in Denver of Castle Rock...I am thinking of Morrison...which is near Red Rocks...good restaurants in Morrison...then we can convoy up to Red Rocks after brunch/lunch to take pictures and chat. Only think is...there is a concert on Saturday the 26th which the gates open at 4 pm and the concert starts at 6 pm...so Sunday looks better for my idea. We both agree that off-roading may be more difficult for some of you...even me actually. Anyhoo...let's keep the ideas flowing and reply to this thread...Thanks:smokin:
