earlofphoenix
Ok, although its a bit in the future, thanks to this board, I've decided to turn my Legacy into a monster. First order of business, replace the auto box with a manual, prolly a five speed. How hard is this, and what parts do I need? Obviously the tranny(what tranny?), clutch, linkage, through out bearing and shifter. I'm not the most mechnically inclined, so what else do I need, and is there anything difficult about it, ie, is there any special significant differance between the manual and auto units, not counting the difference in the coil pack(why is there a difference?). Second, since I'm planning on lifting it, what about regearing? If this were a rear wheel drive truck, I'd simply change out the rear diff gears to a lower one, but is there an equivalent in a transaxle? I know that it combines the transmission and axle into a single unit, but what does that mean exactly? And since I mentioned lifting, how much is needed to get a 27 in tire under the car? Just a two inch body lift, or do I need the suspension lift as well? Thanks, I'm new to all this, but knowing that I can do more with my sub than just drive it makes it worth doing all I can to turn it into what an Outback wishes it was. -- '93 Legacy L Wagon Pre-runner to be
