mjvieceli Posted December 1, 2015 Share Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) Hey all, Just wondering what the possibilities are regarding swapping an 09 xt forester 2.5l turbo into say an older ( **** - 2008) forester, liberty, outback, wrx etc? any quid pro quos or pitfalls that would make it overly difficult? A lot of people have avoided 2005+ swaps for that reason. Not that it cant be done, it just adds a degree of difficulty. I think miles fox, or numbchux may have better info than i do tho. Edit: I misread. Into an 05+ should be doable. Possibly plug and play if past practice is any indication. Swap motor, and ecu together. But get both wiring schematics, and compare to be certain. The trans will come with it if the swap goes ahead, duly noted about the rear diff + final drive ratios. Thank you for the links guys I will have to look over those websites and see what I can find! Yeah the mechanics (although Toyota techs) I've spoken to said their main concern would be the merging/transferal of the wiring, would it be easier to completely replace the acceptor wiring with donor wiring or only merge the essentials? although I feel like having to comb through to see what can and cant be left would be a harder task).
