99 OBW front disk brakes slide pin lube

Recommended Posts

I need to replace the pads, which I have done several times in the last 10 years. Only now realize that lubing the slide pins with ant-sieze isn't a very good lube. I have had the slide pins freeze up.

Would white lithium grease be a better lube, or are there other lubes that would be better??

Thanks for any advise.

I use Sta-Lube synthetic brake and caliper grease. It's designed for exactly this application. It's also for drum brake lube points which will be good if you have to do parking brakes. You can get it in a toothepaste sized tube for a couple bucks at napa.

I've had the same tub of high temp grease I've had for pretty much when I started working on cars. Its a plain Jane multi-purpose high temp grease. I've tried enough types of the brake slide pin grease to know I don't like them much, they seem too sticky IMHO. My multipurpose grease has never let me down yet.
