Introducing Myself and My '80 GL

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to these forums, just signed up, and the reason I joined is to learn a little bit more about my 1980 Subaru GL that I received as a gift from my cousin a couple years ago.  I hope to get to know some of you as well and pick your brains as it seems that there are many knowledgeable people on this website!

I've had some work done to it already, had both CV axles replaced, did a tune up by replacing filters, spark plugs, fuel filter, and adjusting the carb a bit.  Also had the clutch adjusted as well.  When my cousin owned it, I helped him do some body work on it and then he had it painted.  Overall, it's in pretty good shape, but I would like to continue to tinker with it.  One thing that is an issue is that the car is pretty cold blooded and it can take a couple pumps on the gas in order to get it started on a cold morning.  I'm thinking maybe swap out for a new carburetor or maybe doing some more work on the current one.  I'm not the best when it comes to mechanics though so I would most likely be getting help from some friends that are mechanics to do the work.

Also, a side note, I just got married back in September and my wife wants me to get rid of the Subaru!     Can you believe that?  She doesn't think as highly of it as I do.  I hope to get some pictures posted of it on here soon.  Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself!
