4:44 LSD GL 10

The only 4.44 manual in the US market is the 04-05 forester XT.

 

 

'04-'08 FXT, '04-'05 Legacy GT, '04-'08 Outback XT, and 2013+ Crosstreks (That's just the application for the ring/pinion set, newest supersession is 38100AB681, MSRP is about $400, but you can find it for a lot less online, this will fit in any Subaru EJ 5MT, that's what I did)

I found this 2013 Outback, something like this may work. 2.5l with the six speed. I'm thinking that's not the DCCD trans?

I ran across 3.90 final drive for the cvt. Same as the Justy ECVT. I've got three of those.

 

2010 2.5 cars are plentiful.

Simple way to remember auto's is all EJ25 96-04 are 4.44:  Outback, LSi, GT, SUS, Forester, Impreza RS

I presume later ones follow that same line but I'm less familiar with all trim patterns/years.

(H6's are 4.11)

 

96-99 won't have LSD.  those are best found in 2000+

cars101 delineates fairly well which have rear LSD, though folks have said it's not uncommon for them to act like open diffs with age/miles.

2013 Subaru Outback Specifications

 

Active Valve Control System (AVCS) variable valve timing intake valves

 

Multi-spray injectors with Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system

 

Continuous AWD with viscous-coupling locking center differential

 

Stability control. Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) with electronic traction control (TCS)

 

Probably has cable shifter

Anything that new will have an immobilizer, which means it will be virtually impossible to get running on the stock ECU.

 

Mechanically, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to get a new CVT into an '87.5 or newer EA82 (if yours is an early model '87, you'll have the smaller transmission tunnel, which will make anything but a 5MT difficult, of course, looks like you've got a lift, which will help). But the CVT is very much computer controlled, and the whole system is very integrated.....you'll have an electrical nightmare trying to get it to run in a different car.

 

 

You'll probably want to stick to ~2005 or older for engine donors unless you plan to go full standalone engine management.

Thanks for your thoughts. The car actually doesn't have  a lift at present. I'll have to look at the build date. I do have three DR 5 speeds, however this car is too nice to offroad and will be a daily driver. 

 

My plan for it would still be 2.5 sohc with 4;44.
