what are the two blank spots on the LHS of the steering wheel?

Recommended Posts

anyone know what the two blank spots on the LHS of the steering wheel are for on a 99 legacy wagon?  the blank spot closest to the steering wheel actually has a thing right there for something to plug into, while the blank spot closest the door is strait empty.

i wanna know what is supposed to plug into that piece. thanks!

Left side is open for the fog light switch and generally the far left blank is used for mounting the alarm indicator LED.

How many wires are in the plug there?

on my 95 legacy wagon there was no wires there i added the wiring and plug witch i cut from the doner car at the yard. i assume its the same on other subarus without the option from the factory?

my wagon does not have fog lights. and its the far left blank thats empty empty and the inside one with the plug. i'll go take a good look at it and let you know how many wires it has.

my ignition got all f'd up about a year ago, since then ive played around with different ideas. i was using a lightswitch and a pushbutton for the longest time, but i got a cool led lit toggle switch the other day and decided to use those two blanks for the push button and the toggle. i was surprised to find the one blank wasn't so blank after all.

Yes my ignition got messed up too so I used the left blank slot for the pushbutton for the starter. The other blank slot I wired up to the FWD fuse. There may be wiring behind there even if you don't have that option since there were only so many 'standard' body wiring harnesses. I.e. rather than having a separate wiring harness for every possible combination of options.
