A couple things I have not seen mentioned here are:
The "visor" bump out over the gauges - my 85 is straight, flat across the dash face -and I can tell you it is needed, the sun shines right on the gauges mid-day.
Also, the style of heater buttons got 'frames' post-86.
The mirror switch had a light in 85
Still not sure what a 'virgin' switch is...?

This is a great thread, I was thinking about doing this list myself, before I found it.

I like to think the 85 mirrors were something they let an intern design -So bad! They spit on you in the rain if you crack your window!:-)

The virgin switch is the parking light switch later models had on the steering column after the hazards were moved away.

That switch remained there well in to the new gen and is such called because those who are unaccustomed to that switch may inadvertently throw it and not realize what it does; forget to throw it back and wind up with a dead battery in the morning.

The occurrence of the aforementioned unfortunate events result in what I have coined being "Subascrewed"

Yep, also the Wiper Washer's Nozzles came hiding on early Models, nearest to the Windshield; and on Late models, those came mounted visible, on the engine's Hood.

LADM GL's also came with Headlamp Washers... there are Much More, including that the LADM DL's came carpet less, etc... but I wanted to share only the most important details.

Kind Regards.

out of curiosity does anyone know if the MAF options are interchangeable?

Also 1988 They changed the bumper crash beam to square steel beam versus a thin sheet metal plate.

On bumpers I am told that although the 85 and 86 bumpers look the same on the outside, the 85 has one that is significantly lighter.  (got this info from Mark / RXsnrg who had an 85 bumper on his rallycross car)

Replaced a tail-light housing on a 93 Loyale with a unit from an 85 GL (i'm assuming)

Both 93 and 85 housings had a 6 pin connector, but the Loyale only had 5 pins in it.
The 85 housing had all 6 pins and also had some type of copper wound resistor looking thing in it that the Loyale panel does not have.

Despite these differences, the entire light panel housing still clips in to the back of either an 85 or 93 housing (and all others I would say)
So I have a 93 light panel clipped onto the back of an 85 tail light housing on a 93 Loyale, no problems.

Just documenting.

Does the '93 Loyale have a "Stop Lamp" Warning light on the Dashboard?

I believe that the extra wire + resistor might be the feedback to that Warning light,

Which lit on each time you press the brake pedal, having a burnt brake lamp.

Kind Regards.

My '86 Coupe doesn't have a lock switch for the hatch, nor does it have km/h marked on the speedometer.

The third gen Subaru Leone, also known as EA82, Loyale,

etc... was made since 1984 up to 1994...

...

No, that is Not a JDM EA82 from 1984.

I have photos and information from a 1988 Subaru EA82 Coupé in Spain...

1655329_652397231472975_63604442_o.jpg

...which came from Factory with the word "LOYALE" written on the Doors' rubber molds.

See ~► Here for further information.

However, if you're Not the only owner nor know its history, maybe the doors / rubber molds has been Changed on yours, at some moment, with another ones from a Newer Loyale.  While the one in spain is a one owner coupe.

Kind Regards.

The name of the thread is misleading. As the ea82 motor was primarily used in the 3rd gen L-series Subarus (DL,GL,Loyale) this thread is more dedicated to the changes of those vehicles through their run, rather than the ea82 engine itself.

I'm not so sure what you're looking for exists but you'd be better able to find something along those lines on the historic gen forums.

Ah, yeah I was hoping the thread was dedicated to the engine and the changes that were made to the engine code throughout its service life. Early EA82, vs later revisions.

Thanks Loyale 2.7 Turbo, I figured it was JDM because all the writing on the 4wd shifter warning sticker was in Japanese LOL

Maybe could add EA82 head revisions such as what was recently mentioned in a thread.. different heads other than 1st 2nd and 3rd gen like (tk1,tk2,tk3, and so on to tk10) if anybody can figure out the years of the changes haha would be interesting to find out what are the most recent made and which ones didn't come factory.. like 3rd gen heads I have

Thanks for any input, just curious if anyone knows haha

Thanks Loyale 2.7 Turbo ...

You're Welcome.

... which ones didn't come factory.. like 3rd gen heads I have ...

In my own humble opinion, is better to Keep the Thread about Heads, just like That: Heads Only, and this one about overall vehicle's changes, to that.

However, very kindly let me ask you, if your Third gen EA82 Heads, are for single port intake manifold, or for Dual port (a.k.a: "Spider") intake manifold?

Kind Regards.

My 3rd gen heads are for an EA82T, so MPFI turbo.. and its a flat style intake like a carbed EA82 except it has two runners on each side.. the "spider" intake is raised up about 8-10 inches and has curved intake runners

This is a spider intake-

Sorry no pic of regular flat MPFI intake, but its just like a carbed intake with double runners on each side

Yeah it may complicate things adding the head revisions in.. but EA82 isn't exactly car or even engine specific considering in different regions these same body styled cars came with different engines other than the EA82 :P just sayin haha

And that's a good question.. do they make single port 3rd gen EA82 heads??? I've only ever heard of MPFI turbo in 3rd gen

Not tryin to start an argument or anything haha just thinkin about EA82 changes in general

Love this thread, keep it goin!(:
