Guest SubaruJunkie
Im planning on heading up to the Tahoe area and run on some trails in Kyburz with some friends. So far i know for sure there will be one jeep and myself. NV Zeno is going to try to make it, but there's always room for more. Stock Subaru's are ok, but dont be affraid to scratch it. We will most likely be leaving the Sacramento Area around 8am on Saturday morning, May 31st. BBQ to include Hamburgers, Hotdogs, and whatever people bring. Here is a map of the area. Its about 70 miles north of Sacramento. Should be a blast. -Brian
Guest NV Zeno
Cool, it's looking more definite than when I emailed you last night. Isn't that stretch from Pollock to Iron Mountain (the 25 mi + 4 mi stretch) paved? I seem to remember that was the detour between Placerville and Tahoe when 50 washed out a few years ago. "Mormon Emigrant Trail" is the name I remember for it. Looking forward to some trails, just hope it's not "Dave-Melting Hot" .
Guest SubaruJunkie
Dave, the marked are is not the same path we will be traveling. That is a map i put together a while ago for a past trip. That map is just there to show the area we will be in... most likely stay around kyburz, right off of silver fork road. Plenty of forest service roads and trails to explore. -Brian
Guest NV Zeno
If it's not too hot that weekend, I'm thinking of scouting some of the USFS trails at the higher elevations around Tahoe after we leave Kybyrz. Hopefully the snow will be mostly gone and the gates open. (Driving my wagon in June..am I crazy?? )
Guest SubaruJunkie
Yes you are crazy, expecially if your driving from the bay area in the wagon. -Brian
Guest NV Zeno
Yeah, I figure I'll have to be on the road early to make it over to your place by 8, and we should be in the trees by 9 or 9.30. Should still be cool enough. It's rarely too hot for me in Tahoe..it's the drive back to SanFran that might be a little toasty.

Guest turboroo
If you guys plan another outing I would be down to try. espically if I get the RX soon to be rally car all legal this week. my wagon is to clean to wheel hard. I was going to suggest holister hills ohv park thats near subiestormtroper and myself but tahoe area is definately nicer.
Guest SubaruJunkie
Tahoe is a great place, never been down there. How far are you guys from Sac? -Brian
Guest turboroo
I am about 2 1/2 hours out of sac. Donald is another 45min. further. down the road. no big deal. I have family in sac town. we run up to tahoe a lot in the winter for snow boarding:p .summer is great up there too. heat does not bother me much. the RX pased smog yesterday and will get its brake and lamp soon. it would be great to give it a off road work out. some nice wide fire trails. time for drifting. Guest SubaruJunkie
Cant get too hairy on the forest trails cause they dig ditches in the middle of the trail to act as speed bumps. I wouldnt advise taking an RX with us unless you like to break lower body kits and scratch the crap out of the paint. -Brian
Guest turboroo
dont mind scratches and body kit is comin off. shes gona be naked . It is soon to be a rally car. no not a poser rally car. Im gona do it for real. if it rallys it will pick up more than just scratches. I was on a pit crew for a rally car a few years back. those things get beat on.
