Fuel Door 84" Hatch. Broken?

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I pulled the fuel door off my hatch with plans to put it on my BRAT, but the opening/ closing mechanism is busted. Is there just a spring missing or is the actual plastic housing broken? I can't tell as I've never seen a functioning one before. Anyone got any pics of their working fuel door in this style? Thanks! Also, check out my build thread HERE

That's completely broken, the end is supposed to be capped off with a little sliding latch piece. I have a couple non broken ones that I've coaxed back into function with penetrating oil and white lithium grease. I'll see about snapping a couple pics for you when I get back into my building.

If you're going to WCSS, I can bring a lock that fits into the same space as that mechanism in question.  Simple R&R.  Comes with a key..I can even help you install it, if need be.

Unfortunately I am NOT going this year. Very bummed. I am interested in that lock though. Is that a Subaru thing or a retro-fitted deal?

I just went to Lowes and got one of their mail box locks & put in place of the turning knob, works fine.

Interesting, but this door doesn't have a turning knob. It has a push button. Are you talking about this style door or the flush-body color fuel doors?
