ssjm1221
I'm having some issues with the interface in the 2016 Impreza. I started with an Apple iPod. If I kept the iPod plugged in, it would freeze when I'd start the car back up. Sometimes it would lock up the iPod for no reason whatsoever. Eventually, after a lot of troubleshooting, I gave in and decided to replace my 3rd gen iPod. I'm now working with a brand new Sony Walkman MP3 player. New issues. The connectivity issues aren't present, however the interface does not allow me to navigate folders as they appear on the player. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows of any tricks. For example, the MP3 allows for folders within folders.. such as multiple album folders within one artist folder. The Impreza interface has one option for "folders" and instead of listing the roots folders... it lists EVERY album folder.. making navigation of even a modest volume of music simply impossible (especially while driving down the highway!). Someone please tell me I'm missing something.. it's ridiculous that a 2016 vehicle has such a poor interface that I essentially have to plug in by auxiliary and look down to manage the player in my hand. We also have 2012 Outback that has an absolutely fluid and perfect interface... I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it. It almost feels like Subaru was banking on everyone using bluetooth for streaming and that mp3 use was ignored. Any help would be appreciated! garycwoods
I too am searching for a media (podcasts, mostly) player that plays nice with my 2016 forester. I think the bluetooth connection is more seamless. My old motorola android phone running Winamp worked, sort of: at least play/pause on the Subaru touch screen worked Ok, and that's all I really need. I make a playlist when downloading new podcasts and select that up front. Now on a Samsung J7 android phone. When the ground thaws, I'll use a sound-isolating "Drummer's Headset" while working outside. Any better options for a player, or should I stick with the tried and true Winamp?
