cartwright
New member and new Subaru owner here. The engine has started to make a knocking noise, it sounds ok during warm up but gets loud with the knock when rpm's raise. I have changed the plugs and checked the timing belt cam positions which was good. I found that when I put a timing light on the plug wires, that #2 and 3 wires strobe at at much lower speed and intensity and will pause intermittently. I'm going to swap cables tomorrow to see if problem follows the wires If problem is coming from opposite sides of the coil does that rule the coil as being faulty? Any other suggestions? lmdew
If a cylinder is not firing, it will cause low power, usually not a knock. Rod bearing starting to go out, it sounds like.
