93 subaru loyale

I'm not really sure it was a one owner it only has 100,000 miles in the last 10 years they had it they only out 2,000 miles on it then it sat for about 4 years I bout it from a dealership not running got it going on about 2 hours changed the fuel fuel filter plugs wires oil alternator and since I got it to run it still won't go over 55mph and not sure what I can or need to do to get it to go faster

does it have a carb? could it not be set right or clogged or in need of a rebuild due to sitting for so long

Any decent auto parts store will have a vacuum gauge for testing intake manifold vacuum. It should come with instructions. You may want a T fitting also.

 

No load revving is completely different than getting power with a load. Could be starving for fuel, partially blocked exhaust among other things.

 

Almost all of my experience with these EA82 engines is with the 3AT automatic transmission. They don't really start feeling peppy until they get over 3000rpm, closer to 4000.

 

Yes, if you floor the gas pedal with a 3AT, it triggers a switch that energizes a solenoid on the transmission to downshift 1 gear.
