Pull the engine or not to replace clutch

Recommended Posts

Saw a video some time back of replacing clutch on '84 Brat..He lowered front of engine and raised back of transaxle..Can't find it now ? Is this reasonable to do or just pull the engine ? Appreciate any advice

I did plenty of clutches on 1st and 2nd generations like that.

Pull the radiator, undo exhaust, bellhousing and motor mounts.

Jack up transmission till engine mounts were clear,

then slide motor out on a floor jack and tilt it forward.

Plenty of room, and you can leave hoses, wiring, alternator, compressor, etc connected.

This is my current method:

Works quite well and uses something I already have. Just have to walk the ladder out one side at a time.

That is stunningly brilliant.

I've got a cherry picker, but this is much more transportable in a bind.
