Wanting to become a Subaru owner

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am new to the forum. I want to buy a Subaru and hope it will be the last car I ever buy. Looking for information on the Outback, Forester and Crosstrek.

The car will be my daily driver and be used for long road trips for four adults (so it needs to be very comfortable in the front seats AND back seats. So far I have only driven the Outback and loved everything about it!  Still need to test drive the Forester and Crosstrek.

Looking for any and all suggestions/information on the vehicles from current owners (pros/cons/any regrets). I am also curious of the cost of the regular maintenance of the vehicles and pros and cons of the new car warranty. Wondering if the new Subaru's are predicted to last as long as the older Subaru's do?

Any comments will be very appreciated! Have a great day!

I'm new to the forum as well, but not to Subaru. Just reading what you wrote I would almost recommend the Crosstrek Hybrid if your looking to into something to travel with and comfort, and longer maintenance interval the hybrid Crosstrek should fit your needs. a bigger option is probably the Outback not sure how much bigger it is than the Crosstrek I know a lot more people are buying them in NY versus the other models. I own 2 Foresters and I can fit my family and dogs, I've installed a hitch and I tow a 4x8 enclosed trailer full of band equipment like nothing doing 75 mph just fine.

The Hybrid was discontinued last year. I think 2015 they discussed getting rid of it but it may have existed in 2016 also. Sales were low when it was in production.

Crosstrek is much smaller than Outback or Forester. IMO the Crosstrek is THE car. The others are too big, but if large is what you want then it may be good for you. MPG is good on all of them

Don't bother with a hybrid.

Very short lived. Not many sold. So parts and repair in a few years is going to cost more.

The 2018 crosstrek is supposed to be awesome. More room on the interior, better safety, suspension is supposed to allow a better ride.

Reviews said that on the crosstreks, especially the 2018's have plenty of room for even larger people.

But always test drive them all before buying.
