Ford Pinto 2.3 litre HVLA's instead of EA82?

Or for the Aussies ...GMH Camira rumoured to also work....shoot, I think that family of engines were exported around the world. The Camira was a good car in some eyes. Rarely see them now thirty something years old

Not interchangeable. *BUT* the diameter of the HLA body is the same. With some machine work, you can modify drop in solid lash adjusters made for the pinto motor. Essentially the height of the solid body has to be cut down. Not an upgrade for the faint-hearted. Finding a solid/mechanical lash adjuster for the 2.3 is going to be difficult, esp a set with the retaining clips.
