I went to a estate sale Friday and there was a scooter there. I glanced (sneered:lol: ) at it as i walked by. As I was glancing, I noticed it said Rabbit Touring 150. I remembered the post some time ago about the Rabbit scooters that were produced by FUJI Heavy Ind and that they were a direct predecessor to the Subaru. I found a tag that confirmed it was made by FHI and the negotiations began:lol: I secured the Rabbit and loaded it into the Brat (Subaru's take care of their own!). It's a 150cc and has only 4,000 miles. It's need a lot of TLC but is mostly complete and definitely restorable. As near as I could determine, this was made about 1962 or 1963 and they only made about 600 per year! Should get the title soon. There are a number of web site and replacement parts are available.

Here's some pics.

Wowzers...that's cool. Even cooler?...turbo...fog lights...all terrain tires...and have it launch from the bed of your BRAT like an escape pod from a spaceship..."Open the pod doors HAL...Sorry Dave...I'm afraid I can't do that"...hehe.:smokin:

We'll I got some info over at the Rabbit Farm, uh, I mean Rabbit Forum. The Rabbit Guru says it's a '65 (probably) by the serial number. According to the info there, only 872 produced that year. Engine swap options are endless but I'll probably keep it stock. It has a 2 cycle engine that looks like most mortorcycles of the era. The engine is mated to a gear box and to the rear hub, all one unit. I've posted some additional pictures. With 4,000 miles mechanically I'm hoping it's pretty good, the sheet metal is good and most of the parts I need are available but probably expensive. Let's see 4,000 miles, that's about the distance from my house to Sturgis and back.:rollin:
