hohieu Posted July 29, 2004 Share Posted July 29, 2004 Hi, I just intstalled a Draw-Tite Class II hitch on my car, but the instructions say nothing about how to route the wiring harness to the hitch. I am assuming that the wires don't just dangle under the rear gate, over the bumper, and out the back. Is there a way to route the wiring under the bumper to the towbar accepter? Thanks for you help. gbhrps Posted July 29, 2004 Share Posted July 29, 2004 Don't know if this is what you want, but I leave my wiring harness inside the tool tray under the floor until needed. Then I lay it out the back of the car as close to the tailgate latch as possible without danger of it getting caught in the lock assembly when closing the hatch. Its worked for me on my 97 OBW and now on my 02 OBW. Its never out in the weather longer than it needs to be. GLCraig Posted July 29, 2004 Share Posted July 29, 2004 When I wired up my legacy I cut a whole in the gromet the sits in the bottom of the spare tire carrier and ran the wires through it. Your forester my have a gromet in that area too. Thanks, I'll check it out, and post my findings for other forester owners. I have two questions: (1) Do you get any moisture in the spare tire compartment? (2) Now that I think about it, while I was under the car installing the hitch, I did see a grommet.
