eiremed Posted August 7, 2004 Share Posted August 7, 2004 just bought this 1996 legacy wagon. only real problem is that the tailgate handle/latch has a bracket around it that is badly rusted. is this pretty easy to change yourself? what will i need? where is the best place to order the parts for this? this is my first post! love this board! thanks to whoever put this together! craig ADDENDUM: i found the previous discussion on this. thanks anyway. But, considering the small cost of the part, I think you'll more than eat up any savings in shipping. Just go to a dealer and buy / order it. I'm assuming that the piece changed with the 2000 model, so what you will find will be at least 4 or 5 years old. Com'on people... the part cost me $18 Canadian from the dealer. I don't think I even asked for my usual 15% discount, it was so little. The big saving is the labour. A dealer would charge you an hour I'm sure.
