New owner of 1996 Legacy L wagon 2.2 AT

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks, I am The NEW owner of a 1996 Legacy L Wagon and have found your club. I paid $3,500 at 75,000 miles. It seems good to me. We got it from the local Subaru dealer in Martinsvile Va. By reading on your site I'm not sure to be happy or sad with what to expect. We own a 1980 ish Brat years ago and were very impressed with it's 4X4 capabilities. We bought this mainly for the 4X4 cause the New to us truck we just got didn't have it and I really have to be at work (at the hospital) in bad weather. It was tuneless, The previous owners pulled the sounds out. I found a BRAND New Matsu****a CD player on ebay for $45 and just put it in yesterday. So for now life is good!! Kathy

Hi Kathy. Congrats and welcome to the board. Sounds like you got a good deal. You should get many years/miles of enjoyment out of your Subaru. Just keep on top of your oil changes and you should be fine. Let us know if you have any questions/problems. You'll be surprised at all the expert advice you have on tap here.

Yes welcome to the board. We have a '95 L AT wagon (125K)and it's a great car. We also have a '00 L (155K), and it's even better.

Be sure to do the tranny regular. The AT is the weakest link, but maintain it and it will last.

We live in NW Montana and there is no better snow car ... period. Plus you will find that the Lagacies are great road cars (much better handling than the Outback) ... in fact we're heading out for a round trip to Seattle over the weekend in just a few minutes, bye, bye!

Hi, Thank you for the welcome and the tranny tip! I asked for the dealer repair and maitenance info but he said he couldn't get it to print out for me. I will get it on the next oil change. I did take my daughter off to college the day after I got it and was totally amazed by how much it held. Awesome!!THANKS AGAIN!! Kathy

You can register as the new owner with the VIN at subaru.com and it will give you the dealer mantenance done, and any outstanding recalls.

They are good cars. Mostly problems get posted here - no one starts a thread to say, "my Subaru has xxx,000 miles and runs perfectly."

Hi Ranger83, I just want to say THANK YOU for the GREAT info!!! I will do this. They might know more about it than my dealer cause it was originally a MD car. I AM VERY HAPPY with my new to me ride and hope it lives a long life, and it does runs perfectly. THANKS, AGAIN! Kathy
