Buying a new car, some Q's

Okay, Tommorow I am going to look at three wagons to possibly replace mine.

 

I have a good idea of what problems to look for, but I thought I'd ask you guys too, maybe I'm forgetting something so I guess it never hurts to ask.

 

I know to look at the boots for tears, look for leaks and where they are coming from, Listen for brake problems, Check the clutch, listen for the infamous "tick", Make sure it shifts well into all gears and 4x4, check the oil for coolant and the coolant for oil (how can I tell if there is coolant in the oil and vise versa?).

 

Well, I know I am forgetting some things, so any help is much appreciated.

BELTS = brakes, engine, lights, tires steering

 

 

Just a basic punchlist but it can tell you a lot about the general shape and condition of the car. Ask questions. The answers you get, and more importantly, the feeling you get from the person selling the car will tell you a lot. Good luck ( as for coolant/oil, use your nose)

I was planning on loading up the questions. I bought my car on instinct, and as I know now, thats bad. I bought it at auction, so I had little time to look at it all, plus my mechanical skills were nonexistant!
