I am wanting the one that will be better to drive in the mountains and snow. I also enjoy long trips and camping. Thanks for your help peace. The outback is based on the legacy, the forester on the impreza. The outback is a bigger vehicle but both are excellent choices for both mountain driving and camping. I would add that I preferred the Outback for long interstate trips because it seemed it was quieter and had a lower center of gravity. They are both dependable and relatively easy to maintain vehicles. Bill What are the main differences between the two? I have been driving a '79 VW Camper Bus for 4 years now as a daily driver and I also had a '93 Dodge Caravan, so I like the feel of the Forester better.
