sarrett
This is my first post here so I'd like to say "hello." I have a 2004 Forrester XS and it seems to be idling rough. It also seems to be idling low (< 1 on the rpm gage.) I should also point out that I was rear-ended Friday afternoon. It appears the damage may just be a scraped up rear bumper. I did notice that muffler/tailpipe isn't laying entirely strait. However, it doesn't appear to have been touched in the accident just looking at it. (I'm not a mechanic or adjuster.) I'm supposed to bring the car in on Saturday for it's first service (beyond a simple oil change.) Any ideas of what may be causing a rough/low idle on a relatively new car? Could the problem have any relationship to the rear-ending that I need to point out to the insurance adjuster when I meet with them later this week? Thanks! sarrett
Well, here's a followup. The problem was due to the fender-bender. The muffer and tailpipe were messed up. Once it was fixed the noise went away. I just took the car in for it's 7500 mile checkup and it's working well.
