This has been done before. The radiator goes up front in the trunk, facing down with vents cut in the floot and an electric fan to pull air through. You will also need to install a heater core to stay cozy. When the job is done carefully, there will be no outside evidence of what you have done. I heard rumors of someone who could wheelie theirs, but i don't know if that is true. Use the search option at the bottom of the page to look for other threads, I know this is covered elsewhere. look out on the net too - i believe there is support groups dealing whith people who have you're sickness of putting subie engines in old VW's. They get put in vans as well. Sorry about the bad typing, I cut op my middle finger and I'm practicing 3 fingered typing.

is it the original beetle or is it a super beetle? cause if it's a standard beetle just yank out that spare tire and cut a good size hole and mount it there and then pending how you want it you can make some shaped holes in the trunklid and then insulate the rest of the trunk from drafts or louver the hood and so it's still steathy and such

91loyale how did you cut your middle finger off?

Done it with a N/A EJ22.

Whoo, the car is fun. If it'll ever hook up, I bet it would wheelie. It's violent!

Hooking the turbo up will undoubtably be a little more difficult, because of space constraints, but who cares?

You will need to get a stronger tranny, and cv joints, or run swingaxles. Period. I've broken the stock cv joints. Need to upgrade to porsche 930's.IM000058.JPG

I forget the site but yes you can fit either one of those motors into the 914 cause the guy that has the site that I forget fitted a EA-82T into one then went and wedged a ER-27 (2.7 flat 6) into the same 914

and you hafta remember the 914/6 which had the 911 6 cyl in there so yeah I would think you have the room to fit anything you wish into one of those lil cars
