puttin a er27 in my hatch, now that motor hangs out further in front, and weighs a bit more than the original motor. im trying to decide if i need to do the 5 lug swap, so i can run legacy shocks up front. the legacy shocks(not exactly sure wich ones) should be set up for more weight than my ea81.

im just wonderin if this would be a good reason in doing the 5 lug. are there any other advantages to this over runing pugs, with rear discs, with the 4 lugs?

I have RX springs on my ea81 struts to handle the added weight of my bumper and winch. plus they are adjusted all the way up....

There are tons of advantages to doing the 5-lug, bigger brakes, more vairety of rotors you can use, more parts availible, impreza front end stuff will fit...and, you can have some cool 5-lug wheels on it...

But its just not feasable to hack up your suspension if its for a EA81.

yeah, you would have to modify the front crossmember for the xt6 parts

yeah miles, i have read the little bit of info i could find about your ea82 suspension on the ea81s. its just welding on one hanger a bit further back? i wasnt sure if you said just drilling out the ball joint hole bigger would work or not....

yeah, the mount is one width back, you can ground off the one from the ea82 crossmember and weld it into place on the ea81, trim the excess.

so you will be using ea82 lower control arm, so you WILL have to drill the ball joint hole. the only exception to this is if you have the xt6 lower control, which is the same as an ea82 but has the larger ball joint hole already
