Thanks to all the info on this forum, I have just about completed all the 90k services due on my 96 Legacy GT. With the coolant change, I want to replace the hoses (upper and lower) and t-stat (including gasket) since to the best of my knowledge, they are still the original parts. Any other parts I need or should be replaced before I place my order? Thanks in advance.

The most important item is to make sure you get all the air out when re-filling. It ain't easy. Some people raise the front end. I suck out the air with a vaccum pump.

Hoses may last forever, but it can't hurt to change them.

Yeah I have no pump, but I have bookmarked Setright's coolant filling instructions.

Hi,

You might want to open and drain the block plugs (two of them) to get it all out. I don't know for sure whether pulling th elower hose will drain sufficiently.

Interestingly enough, I had absolutely no trouble with air pockets when I did my '96. I filled the radiator, started the engine, kept adding till it was full, and that was that.

How are your accessory drive belts? I assume you replaced them?

Regards,

Adnan

Yeah, they were all replaced when I had my State Inspection a couple months back. I'm going to pass on the engine drain bolts, think I agree that they could be more trouble than they are worth. Figured on doing a flush or two with distilled water.
