Guest Rooinater
i really like the xt seats, and was wondering if i can get them into my ea81 bodied wagon. i know the ea82 gl seats have to be modified to fit. and i was wondering i can make the xt's fit the same way? Guest james hogan
Yes, it takes a little welding to fabricate brackets, but they fit as far as width and such. I put XT seats in a 86 GL hatch by cutting the mounts off the rails and using 1"x1" square tube with tabs welded on the 1x1 to mount to the floor. I'm 6'1" so I used 1"x2" for the front mount to give them a little rake towards the rear. I'll try to post pictures this week. Jay The height adjustable seats DO work. Guest McBrat
yep. I've got the height adjustable seats in my 82 wagon... mine *HAD* a custom welded bracket ont eh drivers side... the mount tabs were ground off of the ea82 bottom bracket, then the bottom half of the ea81 seat mount was welded onto the bottom of the ea82 bottom bracket. unfortunately the drivers side bracket actually snapped.... (crystalized from welding maybe???) so I made new brackets (no welding) and the height adjust works perfectly yet... (can't slide seat forward/back though....) not sure what's wrong, but it's in the right spot so I'm not worrying about it....
Guest Rooinater
ok that's similar to what i saw with the way eric put his in the brat. thank you.
Guest qman
Eric put GL-10 seats in his Brat. MikE W. has XT seats in his Hatch. Ken
Guest Mike W
I did it the hard way...making a custom bracket to connect each of the XT seat mounting points to the bolt holes in the EA81 floor. Mister Hogan's and Mick's methods are much simpler and stronger. The XT6 seats are comfy, but the drivers seat weights about twice as much as a stock seat. Guest Dennis ex24
they are a direct bolt in on ea82 cars arent they?
Guest Rooinater
i'm having a hard time finding good xt seats. the driver's seat is somewhat bad in all the ones i've found and the passenger's seat was still very nice. anyone know of someone who has some good xt seats for sale? Guest Hondasucks
Just find 2 passenger seats, and a set of driver's side rails. A hand held impact driver (The kind you hold in your hand and hit with a hammer, ~$20 at Harbor Freight) works great for getting the rails off, cuz those screws are usually in pretty tight. Guest McBrat
the xt seats are not a direct bolt in to the regular ea82 passenger cars. also, the height adjust bars under the seats are different for a GL-10 and an XT (I tried swapping, and it didn't work.) the bends are different.... Guest Flowmastered87GL
To make the height adjuster from an XT work on GL rails you have to cut out rivots and welds and stuff. The result is worth it though. I have em and love em. I didnt do the work myself, I had a mechanic do it, it is tacklable by anyone though. No welding necessary, just drilling and grinding. Ummm this is for an EA82 though. However since EA82 seats fit in a EA81 with some mods, you just gotta combine afew mods from each and it will work. Guest NV Zeno
Watching with great interest..I've been holding on to a height-adjust EA82 seat with an eventual hope of installing it in my '83 wagon. There is some great stuff here, welding is out of the question for me...much prefer drilling and bolting:) .

Guest McBrat
here's how I did my drivers seat with GL-10 height adjust seats... *edit: the drawing is with the seat upside down, looking at the back of it....

Guest sonik
Are there seats "better" than the GL-10's that will fit (atleast without too much work) in a GL-10?
Guest McBrat
you should be able to make any seat fit, just by making the bracket to fit.... just need to find the ones comfortable for you... for me, the ea82 seats are definitely firmer, and better cushioned, but I prefer the shape and fit of the ea81 seats.... =. Guest EJ
Any one have pictures of the brackets for XT6 seats to fit in a EA81???? I have a set of XT seats and I want these to fit in my hatch.....
Guest McBrat
EJ, if you take off the bottom bracket from the XT seat, you should be able to make brackets just like my diagram above.

Guest Turbone
Ok, heres a new question. Are the GL-10 seats the same width as the EA81's? I'm thinking of replacing the seats in my Mazda truck with GL-10 seats, and if I had a measurement I would know if they fit or not.
