I was told that I could lift it by turning the rear torsion bar and the bolts under the front struts. Would this give me enough clearence to put on tires around the size of 195/70??? Would the car turn without rubbing, and would I need a different shock? I have these on my wagon and it isn't lifted (yet) and I don't have any rubbing problems at all. I run 205/55R16's without any lift and also old shocks. On my old '76 though the pivot for the rear wheel assembly is closer to the hub so i couldn't get them on though. 195's will fit though on all models. But they were real hard to find, no places had that size. NTB had just this set left. I remember though someone on this board had wongleflute Cepek 195/70 13s......now those would be cool, but I haven't beeen able to find them at all. Good luck. Guest JimN Posted September 28, 1999 Share Posted September 28, 1999 Subaru X, if you still have the '78 model and it has the older style rear 'swingarm' assembly I don't think you will be able to fit 205's even with a lift. It all depends on what the wheel offset is. My '76 has a 2 inch lift and they still will not fit. On my '83 wagon though it has had 225/45R16's on though without a lift so there is plenty of room on the rear of the newer models. DaZeD69, my wheels are modified 6 stud Nissan Rims from a larger 4WD. They look good but are heavy, about twice what a standard rim weighs . I'd really like a 16 inch rim, do you know if they are heavier/lighter than a peugeot 15in alloy rim? I'm running those right now, and the weighting is really awkward on them. Thanks man! Guest JimN Posted September 29, 1999 Share Posted September 29, 1999 The tires are not as common as low profile 15" rims but they are still pretty easy to get. I had 3 or 4 brand options in Australia so that means you should have heaps more in the US. the wheels are probably heavier that pug 15" alloys as these are steel wheels, although they are not that much heavier than some 14" wheels that I have. They are twice as heavy as the standard subie 13" rims though so you maybe able to work it out that way. The wheels start out as a 6 stud patern. 2 of the holes line up with 2 subie studs so you then need to weld up the other 4 and drill 2 new ones making it a square pattern.
