Brembo Rear Rotors? OEM Pads ONLY?

Recommended Posts

Hi ALL icon_rolleyes.gif !

My rear rotors and pads needed replacing. I'de like to do them myself. I found the steps here easy to follow, so, for the first time I'de like to save a few bucks and do them myself! I have an 1997 GT Legacy Wgn. 2.5 DOHC.

So the questions is.................I've heard for years that ONLY use OEM Subee pads!! The logic being.....they don't sqeak!!! IS this TRUE? Or rumor!? If rumor....what are a decent set of pads for regular driving??

Rotors..............I've seen them on Ebay. Brembo's? Don't they make the OEM rotors for Subee? Any good???? If not, what to get???

Many, Many Thanks......SubeeTed

You can use pads other then OEM and not have squeaking issues. It's true that some aftermarket pads do squeak. So decent pads are axxis metal master and ultimates. There's a few others, but with the rear pads they don't do much braking anyway.

As for rotors, most of the brembro rotors you see are just going to be in brembro boxes, and not actually be manufactured by brembro.

I personally like OEM rotors....but that's just my opinion.

I would also stick with OEM rotors (not that expensive if bought at the right place, eg Liberty Subaru ) and I would definately recommend Axxis pads. I've got the Deluxe Plus which are showing practically no wear, the bite is great, and they are quiet but any(Original Deluxe, Deluxe Plus, Metal Master, and Ultimate) Axxis pads are gonna be great.

BTW the job is even easier than you would expect!

I'm using Axxis/PBR Metal Masters right now and love them. I've used their "Deluxe" and liked them a lot also. The Deluxes were the best at putting out the least amount of dust. The metal masters put out more dust. No squeaks or squeals on either the Metal Masters or the Deluxes.
