Guest subaru1800
My trusty Chilton's describes a wedge bolt to adjust the rear brakes on my '86 GL Wagon. I think this only applies to the 2WD models (mine is 4WD) as I don't have this adjustment. There is an adjustable linkage beween the shoes, which can be released though a hole in the back, but I haven't been able to tighten it. Any ideas? Guest JimN
Mine is an 83 4WD and it has an adjustable wedge bolt. At least that what I think it's describing. A square bolt down the bottom inside of the brake assembly.
Guest subaru1800
My '86 Brat and my '85 Wagon (2WD) both have the wedge bolt, but this Wagon (4WD) doesn't.
Guest Teague's Auto
A 85-up Wagon,Sedan or 3-door that is 4x4 will not have the adjuster. They have self adjusters. Hope this helps you out. Guest subaru1800
After 250,000 miles, the star wheel on the adjuster was nearly worn smooth. When I got another set of adjusters it worked fine. These cars just last too long.
