simbey1982
Well we got all of the stuff off....and everything is in...after some electrical confusion we have got it to start:confused:...i backed it out and went back and forth a few feet...everything seems to be working...mostly.... Found a pinout diagram for a 97 Impreza ECU courtesy of www.ravensblade-impreza.com so to get the car to start we grounded the AT/MT selector pin then we shorted two pins on one of the connectors in the engine compartment that used to go to the tranny connector B15 pins 10 and 11...that info courtesy of Josh www.surrealimage.com . Any pertinent wiring info would be very helpful at this stage....as im not sure its running as great as it should...as well as info on the cruise...reverse lights should be pretty easy....im getting a check engine light as well..not sure what that is about....have TCU and shiftlock disconnected...:-\ Also a last big issue is with the clutch....it is really hard to depress at the end of its action...the first few inches is easy and then you really have to press on it....it is a brand new clutch cable but could the cable be pinched perhaps?? any ideas...had to run in really close to the MC...:-\ ok im rambling and its 5am...im tired:banana:.....big thanks to Who1981 my bud who is doing most the work....A true friend Thanks again guys Cory
Legacy777
First I'd find out what code the ECU is spitting out and go from there. You have a link for the 97 ecu I/O page on ravensblade? I can take a look and see if there's anything in addition to the MT/AT pin. I sort of think there is...at least from memory and talking to a few people that did a swap on a newer model impreza. simbey1982
You have a link for the 97 ecu I/O page on ravensblade http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/modifications/misc/wiring/wiring.html there is one that says 97 impreza 2.2 liter thanks josh i appreciate it Cory
Legacy777
One, the neutral switch is not wired up, so that will contribute to issues. That's about the only thing I saw stand out that would cause issues with running. Again, I'd suggest pulling the codes and seeing what the ECU is seeing. simbey1982
Well....we tightened the headers the check engine light went away for awhile but it came back on...so i think i may try to find an ecu code computer.....So a shout out to anyone in the portland area that could help me out with that i need to get my ECU error codes Also Josh what do you suggest with the nuetral sensor??? i would appreciate insight. Also i am having a lot of trouble with a sticky clutch pedal,,,,i think the cable has a kink in it. it gets hard to press about half way down....ideas? Also insight on the cruise control Thanks yall Cork
Legacy777
Do you guys have autozones out there? If so, drop by one of them, or possibly another auto parts store and have them pull the codes for you. As for the neutral switch. You're going to need to wire it up like how I did. The pin out's will probably not be the same, but you should be able to just connect the two pins from the neutral sensor to the wiring on the AT harness. Disconnect the cable from the clutch. Have someone hold the end of the cable, and then you move the clutch pedal by hand and see if it get's harder to move towards the end. I'd need diagrams for the cruise setup, but again, more then likely you'll need to rewire the cruise relay.
