mattocs
My keyless entry goes CRAZY sometimes (I think it is my keyless entry) Its a 96 OBW and it came stock on it. There is a clicking sound from the area where the keyless system box thing is. The car won't turn over. Won't do anything. Lights dim and flash and fade. I sometimes and click the keyless remote and it will stop, and start. Other times I have to unhook the battery for a minute and then everything is fine. It has done this 3 or 4 times now Any ideas? coloradosubarules
That clicking sound you hear is a relay. When the system is going haywire you should take your fingers and stick them in the area of the clicking. Once you have found the source stick your finger on it and you should feel it clicking. Replace that relay with one just like it from the parts store. If this does not work then you will need to replace your KES brain. Before you go about replacing the brain check all of it's grounds. A bad ground will make it go nuts too. Chances are that relay is grounded somewhere as well. If you can trace that ground down and check it. I am under the impression that the KES has a starter kill function. This would explain the vehicle not starting.
