Goodmorning everyone. Happy new year.
This morning I just discovered a leak under my car(1983 GL Wagon). It's accumalating on the crossmember and dripping down to the ground. I checked the heater hoses, and the two main hoses for leaks...nothing. It seems to be coming from the bottom of the engine. Some guy said something about "Freeze plugs" in the engine of other makes of cars. Is this true with Subarus? Has anyone else had this problem? COuld a Head Gasket blown on the edge of a coolant line and the outside of the head?
Thanks for your time.

Check the thermostat housing gasket. Mine leaked exactly as you describe. The coolant runs down to the bottom of the engine and drips from the bash plate. The small coolant hose that goes from the block to the intake manifold could also be leaking and produce the same results.

also check the two small coolent crossover pipes, one starts from the back of the t-stat housing and goes to block and the other goes from base of carb on manifold to lower radiator line.
