Guest Caboobaroo
well I went to change the plugs on my 79 wagon and the plug in the #1 cylinder came out with an adapter cause someone stripped it out. So I wanna know if its easier to replace the head and not worry about fixing it, or should I fix it with a helicoil? I know the helicoils are like 40 bucks but I wanna do it right but if its cheaper to fix, I'll helicoil it.
Guest GeneralDisorder
What's wrong with using the adapter they used? Just curious. Anyway - if there is nothing else wrong with the head, I vote for helicoil. Why toss a perfectly good head if it just needs a little attention? I'm sure that another head would cost more than $40. Guest GlCraigGT
was it an adapter or a different kind of thread insert, then a heli coil. If it was a different insert, you will probably need to replace the head.
Guest Caboobaroo
when the adapter came out with the plug, it wouldn't come off of the plug. I think it should be the right size for a helicoil so I'm gonna try that
Guest Stupidru
Take head to machinist, he'll fix it for $5.00.
