Hi! We are new here and our wipers don't work!!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Yes, we are new here. We have been driving my girlfriends 94 Legacy, and with the exception of the seats (just awful), what a great car!!

Moved to Portland Oregon from Pennsylvania, towed a u-haul trailer, and absolutely zero problems. What an awesome car!!

Anyway, ice storm today, and when we tried to use the wipers after thawing out the car, the driver's side wiper is loose. Does anyone know how to access the mount to tighten or replace it ? I looked and can't quite seem to figure it.

It looks as if it may be accessed from inside under the dash, or by removing the panel under the wiper blades themselves.

Thanks ahead to anyone who can help!!

DOH!!!!

Well, after carefully considering my submission, I figured it out!! It is as simple as removing the rubber cover over the nut and tightening it!!

Thanks, and hopefully will submit more well thought out ?'s in the future!!

While I have not yet experianced windshield wiper problems with my '99 Legacy GT, I must agree that for long trips those Subaru seats are rather uncomfortable. Retrofitting used WRX seats seems to help, I am told although with the limited headroom in my Subaru I am reluctant to switch to seats that make you sit higher up.

Not to hijack the thread, but I find the seats in my 97 OB so-so. I've been using an Obus Forme back support for many years. Driving 60k km a year, I need decent support. Not the most elegant... you do lose some thigh support... but they do work. At least for me. Just thought I'd give them a plug.

Had the same problem after heavy snow. Apparently the nuts are torqued on with a mind to loosening instaed of burning out the motor if the wiper is held back by ice, snow or other obstruction. Stupid seats... smart wipers.
