Synthetic or part-synthetic oils are "slipperier" because of smaller molecular structure of synthetics....thus, it slips past piston rings (and seals, and gaskets) more easily than conventional oil.... Synthetic oils used in older engines tend to actually clean out the works thus exposing weeknesses in gaskets and rings. You shouldn't have any problems using a blend or a full sythentic. coloradosubarules Posted January 22, 2005 Share Posted January 22, 2005 I used that stuff at 232K and it was gone in no time. I never saw oil leave my engine so quick.
