my 86 5spd d/r wagon has quite a bit of slop in it is there a quick fix for it

i can make brass brushings at work if need be

You are right about it being the shifter bushings, but I would NOT go with brass ones, that would hurt your hand. I need to do this to my car as well, while in gear you can swing it where ever. Be in 1st and have it look like your in 5th when you turn left, now thats bad:drunk:
