Guest stephenw22
How can I tell if the motor mounts (or tranny mounts) need replacing? (1988 DL 4x4 wagon)
Guest carfreak85
if the engine shakes and bucks around when you start it up or are playing with the throttle.
Guest tomrhere
A well placed eyeball works good too. Look for major splits/separation between the rubber and the steel. Take both hands, make a "C" shape with thumb and fore finger, placing thumb of one hand centered between thumb and fore finger of other hand. That is how the mounts should look, atleast for the trans. If your mounts are setting more towards the crossmember than they are towards the engine/trans, then chances are they are bad. Really way simplized there, but I'm thinking it gets the picture across. Could also place a jack under the suspected item, (engine/trans) and take up the weight while watching the mounts for any weird movement, just don't get carried away and lift the whole vehicle this way. Just some thoughts on the subject......Tom
