carbuff
Hello i have a 88 xt6, it has a hard time starting, backfires when it runs and has no power, it sounds like the timing is out, i checked timing with green connector connected, it looks like its out 20 degrees, tried to adjust timing but all i get is 10 degrees, i thought maybe there was a problem with the destributor gear so i checked timing buy turning the engine to #1, looks like it dead on, so im wondering what else could cause this, there are no codes in the engine computer, i checked fuel pressure, i did noticed when i pulled out the distributor and turned with the ignition switch on,i only heard the injectors fire once for every rotation of the distributor, the injectors should fire six times,or? can anyone help? Skip
a compression test be a wise thing to do IF you see the pass side cyl lower than the driver's side you can bet the pass side timing belt slipped a tooth or two
