The transmission only works in first gear and reverse. Has anyone done this transplant? What is the secret? Does the 2WD TCU need to be installed into the AWD car also? ballitch Posted February 3, 2005 Share Posted February 3, 2005 unless they, Subaru, changed the wiring pinouts on the tcu to the ecu, shouldnt the tranny and tcu bolt and plug in and ride off into the sunset? john in KY Posted February 4, 2005 Share Posted February 4, 2005 The FWD and AWD transaxle, at least on the XT6, have different harnesses. EG, the VSS is internal on one type and external on the other type. If you used the stock harness unmodified than this at least is wrong. May want to compare the pinouts at the transmission connection. More than likely all those gears not working is because current is not reaching the appropriate solenoids. There are some things that I see the AWD has that the FWD doesn't have, but I don't see how that would be affecting things.
