air filter for a 95 legacy L

Recommended Posts

I don't care for the loss of power under 2500RPMs, so I went back to a regular Purilator filter. You can rig up a cone filter pretty easy. Some rubber tubing and PVC cement. Here is a picture of the one I had on my ej22 on my Outback.

did you have to cut back the stock tube, cuz i see your has abs like mine an i found that the abs systems in the way.

actually the cheapest way with decent sound and factory stuff is do the K&N flat filter replacement, but remove all the intake resonater stuff hidden in the fender well... it'll leave you with the box filter and a large inlet hole sucking air trough the fender NOT the slow-down-and-quiet-the-air deal that's in the fender..

So always on the search for more... I then did a K&N custom size (6 inch base, 7 inches long and 4 inch tip) and a custom fabed mount to keep the sensor...

But in hind sight, with factory pipe and muffler, the K&N box filter with the intake resonater removed is fine...

Okay--I may be a dork, but what the heck does an air filter have to do with the sound your car makes?

nah.. not a dork.

The more non-resticted the air flow to the throttle body is the more of a deeper tone it gives off when the motor is sucking air under throttle. Nothing really special. I've always done an aftermarket intake system for the tiny power benefits tho... not the sound. But it does make it sound a lil beefier.

air filters got me excited when the guys with a dodge sx 2.0 came to school with a Ractive filter, his car sounded like it had a v8 in it, you could even hear the engine rumble at idle

he had a k&n before that and it barely amde a difference in sound so he brought it back

i got rid of the air resonator

im gonna pick up either an AFE, K&N or Ractive flat filter

im also thinkin about gettin a cherry bomb turbo..

i want something that sounds more of nice then loud, but louder then your average car

the turbo says quality in sound, not decibals

so im thinking it'll be an ok combo

im not getting a cherry bomb, those big loud gross sounding red fart cannons that cops pull you over for having, the cherry bomb turbo is just like a regular muffler
